Conditions for Namaz (Salat) - The Rules of Namaz

Conditions for Namaz (Salat) - The Rules of Namaz

There are 6 conditions for Salat:

1:Taharath [Cleanliness]

The first qualification is cleanliness. This means that the person praying Namaz (which will now be referred to as Namazee) must have their body, clothing and the place where Namaz is going to be performed, clean from impurities such as urine, stools, blood, alcohol. dung, animal excretion, etc. Also the Namazee must not be without bathing or ablution.

For Salat 3 things are very important

a:He should be clean with all the inner cleanings
b:Body should be clean
c:The prayer place should be clean

2:Satre Aurath

The second qualification is covering of the body. This means that the male's body must be covered from the navel upto and including the knees. The female's body must be completely covered except for the face, the hands below and including the wrists and feet below and including the ankles.

3:Waqt

The third qualification is time. This means that whatever time is allocated to a particular Namaz, that Namaz is prayed. For example, the Fajr Namaz is prayed from the break of dawn to before sunrise. Zohar Namaz is prayed after midday to the time when there are two shadows to everything except for the original shadow (mid afternoon). Asr Namaz is prayed from when there are two shadows until sunset. Maghrib Namaz is prayed after sunset to when the natural light disappears. Isha Namaz is prayed after the natural light has disappeared until before the break of dawn.

4:Isteqbale Qibla

The fourth qualification is the facing towards Qibla. This means to face towards the Holy Ka'aba (in Makkah).

5:Niyat

The fifth qualification is intention. This means that whatever Namaz is being prayed for whatever time i.e. Ada, Qaza. Farz, Sunnat,Nafl etc. to make a firm intention in the heart for that Namaz.

6:Takbeer-e-Tahrima

The sixth qualification is Takbeer-e-Tahrima. This means to say Allah-o-Akbar and start the Namaz. This is the last qualification and once said the Namaz begins. If you then say something to someone or eat something or drink something or perform any action which is against Namaz then the Namaz will break. The first five qualifications must remain from when the Takbeer-e-Tahrima is said, to until the Namaz is completed, otherwise the Namaz will not count.

How to Perform Sajdah-E-Sahu or Sajdah Sahw - Prostration of Forgetfulness

How to Perform Sajdah-E-Sahu or Sajdah Sahw - Prostration of Forgetfulness

SAJDAH-E-SAHOO / Sajdah Sahw  (SAJDAH FOR FAULTS / Prostration of Forgetfulness)

What is  Sajdah Sahw ? When is Sajdah-e-Sahoo Wajib or compulsory ?
If those actions which are Wajib in Namaz are not performed by mistake, it is Wajib to perform the Sijdah-e-Sahoo to substitute for the action missed.

Method of performing Sajdah Sahw?
The method of performing this is, when you finish praying 'Attahiyat' in the last Qaidah, turn your head to the right side and then perform two Sajdahs. Then repeat Attahiyat from the beginning and complete your Namaz.

Rule1: If a Wajib was missed and you did not perform Sajdah Sahw  and completed the Namaz, then it is Wajib to repeat the Namaz.

Rule2: If a Wajib is missed deliberately, then a to perform A Sajdah Sahw  would not be sufficient and therefore it would be Wajib to repeat the Namaz.

Rule3: If any of the Farz actions are missed, then Sajdah Sahw  would not compensate for them and therefore the Namaz would not count and to repeat the Namaz would be Farz.

Actions which by missing would not make the Sijdah-e-Sahoo necessary

  1. Rule: If the actions that are Sunnat or Mustahhab in Namaz are missed, such as 'Ta'awwuz', 'Tasmee' 'Aameen', 'Takbeers when changing positions', the Tasbeehs (of Rukoo and Sijdahs) etc. it would not make it necessary to perform Sajdah Sahw , but the Namaz would count [Radd-ul-Mohtar, Guniya]. However, it would be better to repeat it.
  2. Rule: If in one Namaz many Wajibs are missed, then the two Sajdahs of Sahoo would be sufficient, it is not necessary to perform a Sijdah-e-Sahoo for ever Wajib missed [Radd-ul-Mohtar, etc.]
  3. Rule: If in the first Qaidah after Attahiyat and before standing for the third Rakat there is a delay as long as it takes to pray 'Allahumma Salleh Ala Muhammad' then Sajdah Sahw  would become Wajib, whether you pray it or not, in both situations Sajdah Sahw  would become Wajib [Durr-e-Mukhtar, Radd-ul-Mohtar].
  4. Rule: If in Qiraayat etc at any time you start thinking and there is a gap long enough for someone to say 'Subhanallah' three times, then it would be Wajib to perform Sajdah-e-Sahoo [Radd-ul-Mohtar].
  5. Rule: If you think that the first Qaidah is the last Qaidah in a four Rakat Namaz and you perform Salaam and then remember and stand back up and complete the Namaz, you must perform Sijdah-e-Sahoo [Alamgiri]. If you forgot to pause between actions then Sijdah-e-Sahoo is Wajib [Hindiya].
  6. Rule: If a Muqtadee had not completed his 'Attahiyat' and the Imam stood up for the third Rakat, it is necessary for the Muqtadee to complete his Attahiyat, regardless of whether it causes delay.
  7. Rule: If the Muqtadee had not prayed the Tasbeeh in a Rukoo or Sijdah three times and the Imam finished it and stood up, it is necessary for the Muqtadee to stand up and not finish the rest of the Tasbeeh.
  8. Rule: If a person forgot to perform the first Qaidah and had only started standing up then he should sit back down and pray Attahiyat and the Namaz would be correct, a Sijdah-e-Sahoo would not be necessary. If however, he stood up and was close to completely, standing then he should stand up and continue with his Namaz and then finally perform Sajdah Sahw  [Shareh Waqia, Hidaaya etc].
  9. Rule: If you forgot to perform the last Qaidah and had not yet performed a Sijdah for the extra Rakat then you should sit back down straight away and perform Sijdah-e-Sahoo. If however, you had performed a Sijdah for the extra Rakat then except for Maghrib you can join another Rakat and they would all count as Nafl, because your Farz Namaz would not count and therefore you would have to pray the Farz Namaz again [Hidaaya, Shareh Waqia].
  10. Rule: If in the last Qaidah you prayed Tasahhud and then stood back up, you should sit straight back down and as long as you have not performed a Sijdah for the extra Rakat, perform Sijdah-e-Sahoo and complete the Namaz. If however, you had performed a Sijdah in the extra Rakat, your Farz Namaz would still count but you should join another Rakat and then finally perform Sijdah-e-Sahoo and the last two Rakats would count as Nafl, but do not join another Rakat for Maghrib Namaz [Hidaaya, Shareh Waqia].
  11. Rule: If in one Rakat you performed three Sijdahs or two Rukoos or forgot the first Qaidah then perform Sajdah Sahw .
  12. Rule: Order of sequence is obligatory in Qayam, Rukoo, Sijdah and the last Qaidah, therefore, if you performed Rukoo before you performed Qayam then this Rukoo is cancelled and will not count and if then you perform another Rukoo your Namaz will count otherwise it will not, and in the same way if you performed Sijdah before the Rukoo and then performed the Rukoo and performed the Sijdah again after, then the Namaz will count.
  13. Rule: Order of sequence is obligatory in Qayam, Rukoo, Sijdah and the last Qaidah meaning, whichever is due first should be done first and whichever is due next should be done next and if this done in,the wrong order then the Namaz will not count, for example, if someone performed Sijdah before Rukoo then their Namaz will not count, however, if they performed the Sajdah again after the Rukoo meaning they rectified the order of sequence again then their Namaz will count. In the same way if they perform Rukoo before Qayam and they stand back in Qayam and then perform another Rukoo, their Namaz will count Radd-ul-Mohtar]. All Qaidahs in Nafl Namaz are counted as last Qaidahs and therefore are obligatory and so if you forgot to perform a Qaidah and stood up then as long as you have not performed a Sijdah for the new Rakat sit back down and perform the Qaidah and then perform Sajdah Sahw  and all Wajib Namaz are in the same rule as Farz Namaz, therefore if you forget to perform the first Qaidah of Witr then the same rule applies as a Farz Namaz [Durr-e-Mukhtar].
  14. Rule: If you forgot to pray Dua-e-Kunoot or forgot to perform the Takbeer-e-Kunoot then perform Sajdah Sahw . Takbeer-e-Kunoot means the Takbeer that is said in the third Rakat after Qirat and is done and then Dua-e-Kunoot is prayed [Alamgiri].

Laylat al-Qadr | The Night of Power from Hadiths

I. Hadrat Anas ibn Malik reported that when Ramadan came, the Holy Prophet said, “Indeed this month has come to you, and in it is a night more virtuous than a thousand months. So, whosoever is deprived of its blessings is deprived of all blessings. No one is kept deprived of its blessings, but only those who are unfortunate.” [Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 1, Page 119]

II. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “Seek Lailatul Qadr on an odd numbered night (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and the 29th) among the last ten (nights) of Ramadan.” [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 270]

III. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that the Messenger of Allah used to strive hard in devotion in the last ten nights more than at any other time. [Sahih Muslim, Vol. 1, Page 372]

IV. Hadrat Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “When Lailatul Qadr comes, Gabriel comes down with a company of angels who invoke blessings on everyone who is standing or sitting remembering Allah the Great and Glorious. Then when their festival day comes, i.e. the Eid day, He (Allah) speaks proudly of them to his angels saying, “O My angels, what is the reward of a hired servant who has fully accomplished his work?” They say, “Our Lord, his reward is that he should be paid his wages in full.” He says, “O My angels! My male and female servants have fulfilled what I have made obligatory for them, and then have come out raising their voices in supplication. By My Might, Glory, Honour, High dignity and Exalted Station, I will certainly answer them.” Then He says, “Return, I have forgiven you and changed your evil deeds into good deeds.” The Messenger of Allah said, “Then they return having received forgiveness.” [Mishkat, Vol. 1, Page 182]

V. Hadrat ‘Aishah reported that when the last ten days began, the Messenger of Allah used to prepare himself rigorously for devotion; remain awake at night and (also) keep his family awake. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 1, Page 271]

700 Saal Ki Namaz Ka Kaffara (Qaza Namazo Ka Kaffara)

700 Saal Ki Namaz Ka Kaffara (Qaza Namazo Ka Kaffara)

Kya Qaza Umri Namazon Ka Koi Kaffara Hai? Kya 700 Saal Ki Namaz Ka Kaffara hai? Taraweeh Ki Namaz ke Jagah Kaaja pad Sakte hai? Ramazan Ke akhire jumme mein 4 rakat padne se,  700 Saal ki Namaz maaf ho jayenge? Kya ye sach hai

Bohut se logon mein yeh ghalat fehmi paayi jaati hai ke ek aisi namaz ya tareeqa hai jo umar bhar ki chhooti hui namazon ka kaffara ban sakta hai. Magar yeh aqeeda bilkul ghalat hai aur iski koi buniyad nahi hai. Shariyat mein aisi koi namaz nahi jo aapki saari qaza namazon ko maaf kar sake, chaahe wo do rakat ho ya umar bhar ki namazain ho.

Qaza Namazon Ka Asal Hukm

Jo farz namazain aur witr chhoot gaye hain, unka kaffara sirf aur sirf unhein qaza karke hi ada karna hoga. Yeh namazain aapke zimmedaari hain aur inhein sirf ada karne se hi inki zimmedaari khatam hogi. Koi bhi aur tareeqa in qaza namazon ki adaigi ya kaffara nahi ban sakta.

Hadees-e-Nabwi Se Dalil

Rasool Allah ﷺ ka farman hai:
"Jo namaz bhool jaye ya kisi wajah se chhoot jaye, to jab yaad aaye usay ada kar le. Uska kaffara sirf usay ada karne se hi hoga."
Yeh hadees Musnad-e-Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (Hadees No. 13848), Bukhari Sharif (Hadees No. 597), Muslim Sharif (Hadees No. 314/684) aur Sunan Abu Dawood (Hadees No. 442) mein mojood hai.

Jumaat-ul-Wida Mein Qaza Umri Namaz Ka Aqeeda

Kuch log yeh samajhte hain ke Jumaat-ul-Wida (Ramzan ke aakhri jumme) mein ek khaas tareeqa se namaz padhne se 70 saal ki qaza namazon ka kaffara ho jata hai. Lekin yeh riwayat bilkul ghalat hai kyunke yeh ijma (muslim ummah ka ittifaq) aur shariyat ke usool ke khilaf hai.

Imam Allaama Ali Qari ne apni kitaab "Al-Asrar wal Marfoo'a fil Akhbaaril Mawdu'aa" mein is riwayat ko baatil qarar diya hai kyunke ibadat mein kuch bhi aisa nahi jo chhooti hui ibadat ki jagah le sake.

Qaza Namazon Ka Asal Tareeqa

  • Chhooti hui farz namazain sirf unhein qaza karne se hi ada hongi.
  • Chhooti hui zakat sirf usay ada karne se hi ada hogi.
  • Chhoote roze sirf unhein rakhne se hi ada honge.

Koi bhi nafal namaz ya doosri ibadat in chhooti hui farz ibadaton ka badal nahi ban sakti.

Jumaat-ul-Wida Mein 12 Rakat Nafl Ka Masla

Mufassir-e-Quran, Mufti Ahmed Yaar Khan Naeemi apni kitaab "Islami Zindagi" mein likhte hain ke kuch log Jumaat-ul-Wida ke din Zohr aur Asr ke darmiyan 12 rakat nafl namaz is niyat se padhte hain ke saari umar ki qaza namazon ka kaffara ho jaye. Lekin yeh bilkul ghalat hai.

Unka kehna hai:

Isliye har musalmaan ko chhooti hui namazon ki qaza ka ehtemaam karna chahiye taake wo apne zimmedaari se azaad ho sake.
